Our office is recognized for its work in residential design solutions within a shingle-style vernacular that adapts to our ever-changing community of Maine and along the east coast. Our goal is to provide concepts that honor the spatial relationships between our built environment and the beauty of our natural surroundings. PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
STEPHEN G. SMITH
Stephen has been a principal and owner of the firm for over 35 years. He has developed a reputation for the design of quality custom homes along the coast of Maine. Commercial experience includes a full range of project types including medical facilities, office buildings, libraries, and historic renovations. The extent of his firm's work has included the design of a marina and resort development in Antigua, West Indies, and the renovation of an historic plantation in South Carolina.
He is a graduate of Middlebury College and the University of Minnesota School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture degree with Distinction. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Maine AIA Chapter. He is also a registered architect in Maine and NCARB Certified (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.)
He has received numerous awards over the years including the Maine AIA Design Award for Harbor Square in Camden, Maine, and the State of Maine Housing Award for Elderly Housing in Thomaston, Maine
ARCHITECT
JUSTIN Q. SMITH
A native of the coast of Maine and the son of an architect, he grew up around the profession and surrounded by classic New England design. He graduated with a B.A. in Architectural Studies from Connecticut College and went on to achieve a Masters of Architecture with Distinction from the University of Colorado College of Architecture and Planning.
Justin’s professional experience ranges from high end residential design on the coast of Maine to large scale commercial development in the Rocky Mountains. This broad scope of work has allowed Justin to gain experience on project ranging in size from 1,000 to 150,000 square feet.
Justin believes that good design comes from simple yet flexible solutions that will stand the test of time.
A lifelong sailor, he has logged countless hours on waters all over the world, and this helped cultivate his perspective that good design should be a reflection of its surroundings. Justin looks forward to turning his skills, experiences and passion for design into a successful project management role here in New England.
